It’s time to practice!
Should you warm up first? Work on scales? Learn some theory? Or start a new piece?
One YouTube video says start with finger exercises. Another says that’s outdated. A third says “just play what feels good.”
So you spend 20 minutes scrolling through videos trying to decide… and then you’re out of time.
Or maybe you sit down and play for a while…
If there’s anything I’ve learned after working with thousands of students over the last 20 years, plus the feedback I’ve gotten on from nearly 55 Million views on YouTube…
It’s that we all go through the same struggles when it comes to playing classical music and improving our playing in an efficient and practical way.
If there’s anything I’ve learned after working with thousands of students over the last 20 years, plus the feedback I’ve gotten on from nearly 55 Million views on YouTube…
It’s that we all go through the same struggles when it comes to playing classical music and improving our playing in an efficient and practical way.
If any of these sound familiar, I want you to know:
You’re not “unmusical.” You’re not “too old.” And you definitely don’t lack the talent.
The internet has given us access to more piano instruction than any generation in history.
Thousands of free videos. Dozens of apps. Countless “learn piano in 21 days” promises.
Because there’s a massive difference between having access to information and having a clear path to follow.
Which is why so many beginners end up jumping between random and disconnected ideas, not making any real progress and wasting precious practice time in the process.
Most online piano courses, and especially apps, are designed in a way that guarantees disconnected practice.
They organize content around topics: “Here’s the scales section. Here’s the chords section. Here’s the reading section.”
You work through each area separately, checking off boxes, feeling productive… but never building the actual skills to play classical music.
They gamify your practice with points, badges, and “achievements”, but these rewards have zero relationship to real musical progress.
You earn 100 points playing “Hot Cross Buns” with falling blocks, but still don’t know how to read sheet music!

"I used a popular app for a year. I memorized the songs in the app visually. Then my friend put a piece of sheet music in front of me, and I realized I ouldn't read a single note.
I wasted a year playing a video game, not the piano."
What if, instead of disconnected exercises, every single thing you practiced was deliberately connected to a specific piece of timeless classical music?
What if your scales weren’t abstract drills, but preparation for a gorgeous piece you’d be able to play within weeks?
What if your sightreading exercises weren’t random notes on a staff, but the actual musical phrases from pieces you already know and love?
What if your technique, theory, and repertoire all spiraled together, each one reinforcing the others, building week by week as you develop the skills to tackle any classical piece?
Unlike scattered YouTube tutorials or apps that teach skills in isolation…
The Beginner’s Journey weaves technique, sight-reading, theory, and repertoire together — all through learning real music you’ll actually enjoy playing.
This is my first 50 piano lessons that I teach with a new student, compiled into 85 video lessons you can access at any time.
“I used a piano App for 12 months and got lost. Jazer’s beginners course taught me more in 1 month than 12 months on the App, and I have my enthusiasm back!
I now feel confident that if I follow Jazer’s program, I will be able to play the piano properly.”

“I have tried a number of online courses but this is the best by far. Jazer is an amazing teacher, he makes learning piano a really exciting thing to do.
The course prepares you for harder pieces as you progress. His online group calls are great. He answers your questions in real time, I’ve found that particularly helpful. I can’t recommend this course highly enough!”

“I recently completed The Beginner’s Journey and found it outstanding. Jazer’s course greatly improved my understanding, skills and motivation.
It complements my weekly piano lessons with a clear, logical structure and repertoire that supports progression. The video demonstrations are exceptionally clear, especially pedalling instruction. Highly recommended.”

“I’m 80 and have wanted to learn piano for a long time. Jazer’s presentation is pleasant and encouraging. The material is presented in a progressive way which makes learning easy.
The inclusion of the lessons for hand co-ordination is a great bonus!”

“This course strikes a perfect balance between theory and practice. The concepts are presented at the right time and are seamlessly integrated with engaging and challenging small pieces that require dedication but ultimately lead to skill acquisition.
It’s an ideal choice for busy adults like me who want to learn playing the piano as a hobby.”

“I like the selection of the music to play. My 7 year old daughter learns with me and we have no problem with any chosen music. The Eye of the Tiger and Redetsky March are really catchy.
I like that he shows how to play slow and fast, the hands are well visible and explanation very clear.”

Before we touch a single key, in the first module we’ll demolish the mental barriers that hold most beginners back.
You’ll also discover why it’s never too late to start, how to overcome the “I’m not musical” myth, and the secret to making daily progress in just 20 minutes.
Then we’ll get practical: Setting up your “piano corner” with the correct bench height, posture, and hand shape. You’ll explore the keyboard using black key landmarks, and you’ll play your first pattern before the module ends.
In Module 2 you’ll learn how to find any note on the keyboard in seconds, so you never feel lost again.
You’ll discover the secret to playing without tension, with relaxed hands that move freely across the keys. And you’ll master the magical C 5-finger pattern, your first real building block as a pianist.
Then we’ll dive into five recognizable songs: Ode to Joy, Largo from the New World Symphony, Brother John (in round/canon style), Jingle Bells, and When the Saints Go Marching In.
And I’ll also show you the common mistakes that trip up most beginners with their first songs so you can avoid them completely.
In Module 3, you’ll crack the code of reading notes on the page, and learn to count like a musician with simple rhythms and rests that stick with you.
Then we’ll put it into practice with guided reading exercises, and learn the iconic melody from Canon in D.
You’ll also build rock-solid timing with rhythm drills, tapping, clapping, and playing through seven different beat patterns until keeping the beat becomes second nature.
And I’ll show you exactly why beginners get stuck reading music. (And how to make sure it doesn’t happen to you!)
By the end of Module 3, sheet music will finally make sense, and you’ll have the skills to learn new pieces straight from the page which will open the door to any classical piece you want to play.
Hand coordination is where most beginners get stuck, but it doesn’t have to be a struggle!
You’ll learn my “Puzzle Piece” method for bringing both hands together, then master your first set of scales.
I’ll also show you how to smooth the edges and avoid those “clunky” hand changes that make beginners sound like beginners.
Then we’ll revisit the five songs from Module 2 and add the left hand to each one.
By the end of Module 4, you’ll have five fully completed songs under your belt before you’re even halfway through the course! As well as the foundation to take on more complex pieces ahead.
Finger strength equals musical freedom, and in this module, you’ll build both.
You’ll learn short, musical drills that make technique training actually enjoyable (yes, even Hanon can be fun). Plus two new and challenging scales that open up new keys and new possibilities.
Then we’ll put your stronger fingers to work on three exciting pieces: In the Eyes of a Tiger, Malagueña, and The Radetzky March
You’ll also discover finger independence secrets that unlock speed and learn how to practice scales the right way, so you’re building good habits from the start.
By the end of Module 5, you’ll have faster, more independent fingers and the foundational strength to tackle the classical pieces ahead.
In Module 6 you’ll master dotted rhythms, finally make friends with the metronome, and build ironclad timing through clap-and-play rhythm drills.
Then we’ll dive into three classic pieces: Für Elise, the elegantly flowing Swan Lake, and the timeless crowd-pleaser Heart and Soul.
I’ll also show you exactly why beginners rush or drag and how to fix it for good.
By the end of Module 6, your playing will sound smoother, more natural, and as musically confident as someone who’s been playing the piano for years.
Playing in more keys instantly makes you sound more advanced, and in this module, you’ll add even more advanced keys to your toolkit.
You’ll tackle contrary motion hand coordination challenges across three major scales, and get the complete guide to conquering leaps and jumps.
Then you’ll put your new skills to work on two beautiful pieces: An expanded version of Canon in D and Satie’s dreamy Gymnopédie No. 1 with its graceful left hand leaps.
By the end of Module 7, you’ll be playing confidently in multiple keys and moving freely across the keyboard – No longer intimidated by big jumps or advanced key signatures.
In Module 8, you’ll master legato for smooth, connected phrases and staccato for light, sparkling notes.
You’ll also learn how to shape your sound with dynamics that transform a piece, and discover pedal techniques that add warmth and sustain without the muddiness.
I’ll also teach you the five essential piano touches every pianist must master which will give you a complete palette of expression to draw from.
Then we’ll bring it all together with two stunning pieces: The flowing Bach Prelude in C and the breathtaking opening of Clair de Lune.
By the end of Module 8, you won’t just be playing notes, you’ll be creating music that moves people with depth and emotion.
Longer pieces can feel overwhelming, but not when you have a system!
In Module 9, we’ll start with a scale review of the most commonly used scales, then learn my step-by-step method for tackling larger pieces.
You’ll also get a theory lesson on chords and chord progressions which will deepen your understanding of the music you play.
Then you’ll put it all into practice with three elegant pieces: Two beautiful Strauss waltzes (Artist’s Life and Wiener Blut) and the hauntingly expressive Chopin Prelude in E Minor.
By the end of Module 9, you’ll have the skills to play longer pieces without stress or frustration and start experiencing what piano is really about: sitting down, feeling free, and expressing yourself through your music.
This is where you gain the skills to keep growing long after the course ends.
You’ll learn how to know when a piece is truly mastered, how to build your own personal practice plan, and how to choose new repertoire with confidence so you always know what to play next.
You’ll get a second theory lesson on chords and chord progressions, plus my step-by-step formula for learning any song…
And we’ll cover the mindset behind staying motivated for a lifetime of piano so you never lose the joy that brought you here in the first place.
By the end of Module 10, you’ll truly have everything you need to keep learning, keep improving, and keep making beautiful music on your own terms, for the rest of your life.
The first bonus is the Full Sheet Music Library.
You’ll get downloadable PDFs of every piece, exercise, and drill we cover in the course:
No need to hunt for and purchase sheet music online. Everything is included and matches your progress through the course.

Jazer is thorough and easy to follow. Live group coaching sessions are a nice included bonus.”

“This course allows you to enjoy learning and practicing at your own pace. I’m a senior, and even so, I’m progressing steadily thanks to Jazer and his step-by-step method.
I highly recommend this course!”

“The Beginner’s Journey has been helpful to me as someone who has played piano for a long time, but hasn’t had a lesson for many years.
My playing had been gradually declining over the years and this course has given me the opportunity to re-learn the piano from the ground up. I am appreciative of the gradual increase of difficulty with each lesson and the patient way that Jazer explains things.”

“I am just starting my piano journey from zero and I am 56 years old. Upon starting this journey, I soon became overwhelmed with all of the offers, videos, methods, and resources.
I didn’t know where or how to proceed and then I found Jazer. His program is organized in excellent fashion! He knows the right tips, hints, and recommendations to share. He understands process and practice. Thanks so much Jazer!”

So if you’ve ever wanted to learn piano the right way, with a clear roadmap, beautiful music, and an experienced teacher guiding you every step of the way…
YouTube videos are scattered. Great for tips, but terrible for building a complete foundation. The Beginner’s Journey is a comprehensive, step-by-step curriculum where each lesson builds on the last. You’ll always know exactly what to practice next and why. Plus, you get exercises, workbooks, and pieces specifically sequenced for your level.
Keys to Mastery was designed for intermediate to advanced players who want to reach the highest level of piano playing. The Beginner’s Journey is specifically for people who have never played before, or who tried learning but never built a solid foundation. Think of it as the essential prerequisite. Complete The Beginner’s Journey first, then graduate to Keys to Mastery when you’re ready.
Absolutely! This course was designed assuming zero prior knowledge. We start with the absolute basics: From where to sit, how to position your hands, finding notes on the keyboard, and build from there. If you’ve never touched a piano in your life, this is exactly what you need.
Yes! The course is designed for busy adults. You can see real progress with just 20-30 minutes of focused daily practice. Quality beats quantity when you know exactly what to focus on. No more wasted time wondering what to do, just follow this roadmap.
Most people quit because of poor curriculum design: scattered information, no clear progression, boring exercises. The Beginner’s Journey fixes all of that. You’ll learn through beautiful music you actually want to play, with a clear roadmap showing exactly where you’re headed. This time will be different because the method is different.
YES! The Beginner’s Journey is fully usable with ANY keyboard. In fact, many adult learners begin with a keyboard and still make great progress through the course. As long as your keyboard has touch-sensitive keys, you’ll be able to follow the lessons smoothly and build strong fundamentals.
You’ll play your first recognizable melodies within the first week. By the end of Module 2, you’ll have 5+ songs in your repertoire. The full course is designed to be completed over several months, but you’ll notice improvement after every single module. Each module takes approximately 2-3 weeks if you’re practicing consistently and learning all the core songs.
Once enrolled, you will have lifetime access to all the videos. Go at your own pace, revisit lessons whenever you want, and benefit from any future updates I add to the course.
You’ll have access to the student community and group coaching calls where you can ask questions and get support. You’re not alone on this journey.
Yes, you will be able to sign up for The Beginners Journey after this special launch, but the price will be $100 higher, and you won’t be able to access the LIVE Group Coaching calls and lose access to the other bonuses as well.
The Beginner’s Roadmap is a self-paced online course, so you can go through the lessons at any time that is convenient for you, and because you get lifetime access when you join, you don’t need to worry about your schedule getting busy.
The bonus LIVE group coaching calls will take place on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:30pm EST, but even if you can’t attend one of the calls, you’ll be able to ask questions inside the members area and I’ll make sure to answer them in the call recordings.
You’re protected by my 30-Day “Perfect Piece” Guarantee. If you don’t see significant improvement in your playing within 30 days, if you can’t perfectly play at least one new classical piece in the course… Just email my team for a full refund.

I have tried a number of online courses but this is the best by far. Jazer is an amazing teacher, he makes learning piano a really exciting thing to do. The course prepares you for harder pieces as you progress. His online group calls are great. He answers your questions in real time, I’ve found that particularly helpful. I can’t recommend this course highly enough!
I like that he explains things and it is at my own pace. Sometimes it takes me longer than a week to learn just one of the lessons even when practicing 20-30 minutes a day. This is a great course and I know it is helping me immensely. Thank you Jazer for creating this.
I’m 45% of the way through the TBJ course, and all the material is finally coming together. I’m starting to play music without looking too much at my hands while reading the sheet music. I’m finally using treble clef notes to add harmony, and I’m able to find the right position for my fingers on the keyboard without even looking! I’m excited to see what’s next in this journey 🙂
I'm a returning adult player. I took lessons as a child and am an avid flutist. One of my goals in retirement was to improve my piano playing, so I wanted to a good piano refresher. The lessons which were too basic for me, I just went through quickly. All provided good information. I feel like this course would be great for total beginners as well.
I like the selection of the music to play. My 7 year old daughter learns with me and we have no problem with any chosen music. The Eye of the Tiger and Redetsky March are really catchy. I like that he shows how to play slow and fast, the hands are well visible and explanation very clear.
I like this course and the pieces Jazer has picked are excellent for rhythm and fingering practice. I do think they were a bit above what I consider a beginner piece , but with perseverance, I’ve managed to tackled them at a slow pace. I am continuing since there is much to learn and I often rest on my laurels (which are nothing to brag about) I need the outside motivation of a program like this
Hello, I started the course two months ago. I'm currently in the 6th module. My expectation from the course was that it would increase my capacity through targeted practical information without getting lost in theoretical knowledge. The videos I've watched and studied so far have exceeded my expectations.I am attaching the Radetsky March video I worked on.Look forward to your comments. Thanks Jazer)
This course provides a thorough treatment of piano basics (notation, theory, technique, etc), suitable for adults who haven't played in years as well as those just starting. Jazer is thorough and easy to follow. Occasional live group coaching sessions are a nice included bonus. I do wish I could selectively undo the checkmarks which get automatically added when I finish a lesson.
Still on the fence?
Consider this: A year from now, you’ll wish you had started today.
Every week that passes is a week you could have been making progress. Building skills. Learning new pieces. Experiencing the joy of playing the music you love.
With my 30-day guarantee, you have literally nothing to lose. Try the course, apply what you learn, and if it doesn’t transform your playing, get your money back.
The only risk is doing nothing.
